This is my first benchmark between all of these browsers. I used my laptop which is a Intel Core Duo T6400 with 4gb RAM on Windows 7 0x64, no biggie, but gets the job done.
I used the latest versions of the browsers above and used PeaceKeeper v2 as a benchmark tool. The testes in this benchmark are here in the section “What are the individual tests”.
The browsers tested as said above are the latest versions of:
- Google Chrome
- Firefox 9
- Palemoon x64 (which is a x64 version based on Firefox 8)
- Safari 5.1.2
- Internet Explorer x64 (fully updated)
- Opera 11.60
- Maxthon 3
I installed them all, installed Java and flash so they all don’t miss out a plugin to run on the tests and… well, here it is.

Okay, that was expected, it’s nothing un-expected that Chrome is way ahead, but what’s more interesting, is having Internet Explorer falling in the end, even Firefox 32 bit performed faster than Palemoon, which is a 64 bit version of Firefox 8 and says that it performs faster than FF x86. Maybe they were talking about performance in the local machine, like browser response, opening, etc…
I honestly expected more from Firefox, even Safari 9.0.1 is ahead of it. The results I might say (not including Chrome) were a bit of a surprise.
Now let’s have a deeper look at the individual testing of each browser, and how it performed.

#2 – Maxthon (based on Google Chrome) – I expected a good result on this one, basically because it’s based on Chrome, so the results couldn’t be too far apart.
