Filezilla FTP Client for Windows, Linux and MacOSX

FileZilla FTP Client is a free ftp solution for who needs to access a ftp server.
The cool thing about this one besides being free, is that you have pretty much all the features of what to expect a full-featured ftp client.

First off, what is a ftp client ? Is a client that is used to access FTP Servers, is a protocol focused on File Transfer, uploading, downloading and managing files hosted on a ftp server.

The key features of this client are:

  • Easy to use.
  • Supports FTP, FTP over SSL/TSL (encrypted connections), and SSH File Transfer (SFTP).
  • It's available for Windows, Linux, MacOSX, *BSD, and more.
  • IPv6 support (yeah baby, that's right, it's future proof :D )
  • Available in many languages
  • Supports file resume (either downloading or uploading) of large files (over 4gb).
  • Tabbed user interface, in case you need to establish connection to various ftp servers.
  • Site manager (allows you to save the servers you work with, like bookmarking) and manage it (like saving the login credentials among with the address and other additional information you need).
  • Transfer queue.
  • Drag & Drop support (just drag the file out of the server into your desktop, or the other way around if you want to upload).
  • Configurable bandwidth management, like limiting the download/upload speed.
  • Filename filters.
  • Directory comparison.
  • Network configuration wizard.
  • Remote file editing.
  • Keep-alive (pings the server so your connection isn't dropped for timeout).
  • HTTP/1.1, Socks5, and FTP-Proxy support.
  • Logging to file.
  • Synchronized directory browsing.
  • Remote file search.

It's a must have in case you need to access ftp servers (often or not often), everything is there and is very configurable. I never had a problem with it, does a perfect job, it's lightweight and resuming, it's the perfect ftp client, and it's FREE! :D

Check some screens of the application here
I use it to access my own server, even to upload websites into a server so you can publish it. You can also change the permissions of files on a server.

Some screens of mine, accessing my server:

Accessing the ftp server. Above, you have the status window, which let's you know whats happening. On the left, your local directories, on the right, the server directories. You can drag & drop from left to right for upload or right to left for download. Is that simple.

The site manager, adding a site, configuring the profile was never easier.

This is a must-have if you use ftp's. You won't regret it :-)
