Google Easter Eggs

Google In 20 years….
2182_Google_in_20_years
First of, are you familiar with the term “Easter Egg”? It’s something to describe a hidden functionality on some program or website, usually, something "out of the ordinary” functions. There was some within Windows, even Excel, but I can’t remember. By then, was quite funny. Here, I'm going to give you guys some “tricks” I know about Google. Something you put in the search box, and besides the results, you’ll have “something else”. This “something else”, is the Easter Egg.
I used Chrome, I’m aware they work with Firefox too.
Search terms known that show off personalized results (just put the text in the search box and click on the search, and watch it happen :-) )
  • Do a barrel roll : The page literally does a barrel roll. Kinky!

  • Let it snow : It starts snowing :D You’ll also see a mist in the search results window as you let it snow. Once its gets almost all white, you can draw whatever you like with your mouse cursor.

  • Christmas : You’ll have the usual search results, but with a small decoration on top.

  • Hanukkah : Similar to Christmas, but with slightly different decorations.

  • elgooG and press “Feeling Lukcy” (Google reversed) – it shows Google mirrored :-) This one I don’t think was exactly by Google, but “Feeling Lucky” opens the first website it founds, and that website shows google mirrored. Still cool though :-)

  • Google Black : Click “Feeling Lucky”, you’ll have the darkside version of Google. Muhahaha

  • This one is for Google Earth. Download it first here. Once you install it, open it and press CTRL + ALT + A . What it does? Basically it allows you to “Fly” the earth like a flight simulator. You can choose between a F-16 and a SR22, pick the airport and have a nice flight ;-)
Google Earth Flight
It’s not exactly Microsoft Flight Simulator, but looks pretty promising. Check the controls here.
  • Google Gravity – Feeling Lucky: Neat one, will act as the page is under gravity’s influence :D

  • Google Rainbow – Feeling Lucky : It displays a Google version, rainbow style ;-)

  • Google Funny – Feeling Lucky. A Funny version of Google :b

  • Tilt : Well, it tilts Google page, besides displaying the results for “tilt”.

  • Google Guitar – Feeling Lucky. A interactive Les Paul version of Google.

  • Google “colour” – Feeling Lucky (Ex: Google Pink, Google Blue). It will open an alternative Google Engine in the colour you write. So far works with blue, black, pink, try your own :-)

  • Who’s the cutest – Feeling Lucky: Opens a website saying….

Well, these are the ones that I know of, I’m sure there’s plenty more. You can also submit the ones you know commenting this post and I’ll update it and credit to you. :-)
You can also check the Google Logos (the personalized logos they put in special days) here.
Have fun! Credits to Google for this! hehe
